Hey there guys. There's been a lot of silence lately on what exactly is going on with FeaturedSpace.
As you may know, we were aiming for a launch sometime this summer. And while we did manage to complete a soft-launch, we ended up being much farther from our goal than I had originally predicted. This led to a delay that resulted in many entanglements and further delays.
I think it's best to begin by explaining why we are delaying at all in the first place. As you know the network currently hosts one gamemode called "OneShot". This is currently the only publically accessible gamemode on the network (we also have a survival server that's simply there as a placeholder). There is a secondary gamemode called "Breakout" that we've been working on for the majority of the summer and the break-time given to us due to the pandemic.
This gamemode was designed to be an MMO gamemode that had many hub servers hosting an overall connected ecosystem. One of the main issues with this...
This week has been a difficult week. It's not very easy for me to say this, but we screwed up. Big time. We set out to launch this Saturday (August 15th) or a couple of days after (up to the 17th). This would seem fine if we hadn't attempted to complete all of our major systems in one week.
The hard part about being a team is that sometimes that team loses parts that are vital to its operation temporarily (I.E. a team member being unable to work for a day). Not only were we trying to complete two major systems and a final product gamemode in one week, but we also did not even have the resources to do it, let alone the idea that we could complete such daunting tasks in that amount of time.
We have reached a decision that I think is the best way to proceed. We are going to delay until I decide that it is best to release it. This could mean 1 week, or 3. I don' really know. I'm not comfortable releasing a product that I feel is half-finished.
It's us again! After having a successful Launch Party on August 1st (thanks to everyone that attended), we have been working hard to bring some basic new updates to the servers!
The first update of note is our Core. We have worked hard and are proud to announce that we are almost done with JARVIS. This also brings some bad news, as this means we will be having a scheduled maintenance on Thursday anywhere from 2PM-9PM EST.
OneShot has also seen some action as we integrate inventory menus (a new and cool feature I've never seen done before). And some new updates to how perks work. We have also updated the starting coins amount from when you initially join from 0 to 3000 coins. Just enough to purchase any of the three classes available in the /shop.
We have also finally brought our Survival server to 1.16! This means a couple of things for our players that still use 1.8 or 1.7. You may find glitches and errors involving vehicles and mobs that aren't possible to fix...
OneShot A gamemode based off of OITQ (One in the Quiver) and is designed to be a free-for-all arena with powerups, classes, and perks, allowing for a much higher skill gap and new and exciting situations. There are also events that can occur randomly in OneShot, for example, for a small duration, jump boost powerups may spawn across the map during the "Fly like a Bunny" event.
Breakout An original gamemode designed to simulate a prison-like experience (specifically prisons based on the United States). It involves...
